BDCU Children's Foundation
Together we can make a difference
In 2005 the Foundation, a business partnership between BDCU and a number of Wingecarribee residents, was launched with the objective of raising $400,000 to provide equipment and enhanced facilities for the Children’s Ward at Bowral Hospital. This was achieved through the tireless efforts of a number of residents associated with the Foundation, a $100,000 donation made by the Mulwaree Trust and the support of the community at large.
Three years later, after considerable lobbying, the NSW State Government provided a further $3.2 million to expand and refurbish the Children’s Ward. Now it provides state-of-the-art facilities in a modern and comfortable environment. In addition a part-time clinical outreach nurse is funded to provide important home care both pre and post hospitalisation.
Currently the Foundation Committee is turning its energies to addressing the mental health needs of local children and adolescents. This initiative aims to provide education and a specialist clinician to bridge the gap between local professional service provision and community members and their families who are living with mental health concerns.
The Foundation couldn’t have achieved such wonderful results without you, so thanks for your on-going support.
