  Can anyone apply for a loan?

Sure, you don’t need to be a BDCU Alliance Bank member. But you will need to be:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • An Australian resident
  • Have a permanent monthly income and a stable job.
  How does the online application work?

The application should take no longer than 10 minutes to fill out. You will be asked to complete a simple form providing information on:

  • Purpose of the loan
  • Your personal details
  • Your contact and address details
  • Your employment and income
  • Other financial commitments you have
  • Your assets.

It is important that the information you provide is accurate so we can assess your application effectively.

  • Your application will be sent to our Member Comms team who will give you a call to discuss your application and any additional information they need to assess your application.
  What happens to my loan application once it is submitted?
  • We will acknowledge receipt of your application and if necessary seek additional information required to assess your application.
  • Once we receive all the relevant information your application will be fully assessed and you'll receive a phone call or email to let you know if your loan has been approved, subject to any conditions. At that time we will also discuss the next steps involved to process your loan application.
  What do I need for my loan application?

Proof of income

  • Income details for each applicant
  • Two copies of your most recent payslips or a letter from your employer confirming your employment status and income
  • Current Centrelink details if applicable (e.g. family allowance, pension)
  • If you’re self employed you’ll need recent tax returns and profit and loss statements for the last two years.

Employment details

  • Your current employer's details (name, address and phone number)
  • If you have not been in your current job for three years we will need the details of your previous employment.

Identity

  • Proof of identity is not required at application stage, however you will be asked to supply suitable identification at a later date
  • If you are BDCU member, you will need to supply your membership number
  • If you have not been living at your current address for at least two years, you will need to provide details of your previous address
  • If you are not a BDCU member, you will need to supply identification prior to the finalisation of your contracts. For further information on membership, click here.

Assets

  • You will need to provide details of your assets including bank accounts, shares, life insurances, motor vehicles or any personal items of value (e.g. clothing, handbags, musical equipment)
  • We will require verification for certain assets, i.e. rates notice if you own a property or rent receipts if you have an investment property.

Commitments

  • Details and statements of your financial commitments (i.e. payments on other loans, mortgages, credit cards, etc).

Home Loan Applications

  • Details of location
  • Type of property
  • Purchase price
  • Your monetary contribution
  • Name of agent or private vendor
  • Name of your solicitor

Car Loan application documents

  • The dealers invoice
  • A copy of the current registration papers
  • If it is a private sale, copy of registration papers
  • Proof of insurance cover
  What do I need to consolidate my loans and credit cards?
  • Current statements of all existing loans and credit cards
  • Payout figure from the lender
  Is my loan application secure?
  • Yes, we will never ask for your password or account details via a link within an email message. If you receive an email of this nature, disregard it, delete it and contact us

  How will my personal information be used?

You will need to agree that personal information which may be provided to us in connection with a loan application may be held and used by us to assess and process the application, to establish, provide and administer the facility and to execute your instructions. You can be assured that your completed application form will be transmitted to BDCU Alliance Bank via secure encrypted transmission.
