Planning a well-earned break?

taking a well earned break 900x450

Breathe. You’ve been smashing it out at work, you’re half way through what seems to be the longest school term in history and everyone is shattered. Well now is the time to plan a well earned holiday, it’s amazing how easy life can feel when you’ve got something to look forward to.

Here’s some tips on what to think about….

Plan – It’s important if you have kids to plan in advance what you want to do and make sure everyone is involved. Gone are the days where you could sleep till lunchtime and see where the day took you. By having a plan you can ensure everyone get’s the most from the holiday and has fun.

Think about what you would like to do in advance and make sure there’s something for everyone. If you are thinking about an exhibition or something that requires tickets then book early to avoid disappointment. Be balanced, if you have young kids plan one activity and rest time each day otherwise by dinner time they will just be grumpy.

Work out your budget –if you have a budget you can enjoy your time more without having to worry. Think about what treats you’d like , when you want to eat out and stick to it. It will help with the post holiday blues if you are not stressed about paying off the credit card when you get back.

Don’t forget there’s free stuff. If you are in the city there’s so many free things to do that kids will love. Or even cheap stuff – if you are up in Sydney why not all jump on the ferry to Manly and spend the day on the beach – the kids will love the ferry ride and there’s some great sight seeing to be done from the ferry. If you’re near the beach spend the day there. Go on a family picnic or bush walk, for the kids that’s an adventure in itself.

Be in the moment. Switch off the phone and most importantly social media, be there for the memories you are making not the next Instagram post.

Have fun...
